In light of owner and operator Gavin Chiasson taking on a scouting role with the USHL’s Waterloo Black Hawks, Recruit Scouting’s management team is proud and excited to announce a pair of promotions. Gabriel Foley will move into the role of ‘Head of Amateur Scouting and Managing Editor’, while Tait Borst will take on the role of ‘Head of North American Scouting’.

Foley moves into a top role as he approaches three years with Recruit Scouting. He has grown up in the USA Hockey world, providing expertise on all levels of American hockey and the U.S. National Team Development Program. He also remains active outside of Recruit Scouting, recently assisting with coaching at the 2023 CCM 68 Bantam Major camp and supporting ACHA programs throughout Illinois. Gabe joined Recruit Scouting in 2021 and previously served as Head of North American Scouting.

Borst recently celebrated his second full year with Recruit Scouting and previously served as the site’s Assistant Director. Tait serves in many roles throughout the hockey world, operating as the assistant coach on the University of Notre Dame’s ACHA team and previously coaching with Riley High School. He also provided invaluable coverage for Recruit Scouting last season, when he served as our representation on the floor of the 2023 NHL Draft. Tait joined the team in 2022 and previously served as the team’s Assistant Operator.

Both Foley and Borst operate from outside the Chicago, Illinois area.

These changes provide Recruit Scouting with the structure needed to cover a draft class as exciting as the 2024 NHL Draft. Stay tuned for continued 2024 NHL Draft game reports, player profiles, and incoming draft rankings! The Recruit team wishes Gavin, Gabriel, and Tait luck in their new roles!
